FOOD & MOOD JOURNAL
Understand the pattern,
not just the plate
Eating patterns are shaped by more than willpower. Record meal timing, hunger, stress and emotions so you can notice recurring situations and prepare a realistic next step.

What to capture in a food mood journal
Time and situationLate evenings, work stress and long gaps between meals.
Before the mealPhysical hunger, tiredness, loneliness or reward seeking.
After the mealSatisfaction, comfort or discomfort—without grading yourself.
Turn awareness into a small next step
- Describe the situation.
Replace “I failed” with the specific time, trigger and context. - Prepare one alternative.
A planned snack, water, a short walk or contacting someone can be more realistic than a strict ban. - Return at the next meal.
One difficult episode does not erase the habit.
If binge eating is frequent, distressing or affects daily life, seek support from a qualified healthcare or mental health professional. An app is not a treatment.
